Knox County Career Center’s (KCCC) JROTC held their 11th annual Raider Competition recently at Ariel Foundation Park.
The event featured 13 schools and 25 teams from across two states. The overall champion of the competition was Beavercreek High School’s A team followed by Green High School’s A team in second place. Beavercreek High School’s B team rounded out the top three in third place.
KCCC’s A team finished in fourth place overall and the KCCC B team finished in tenth place overall.
“This year’s competition was once again a tremendous success. We were thrilled to welcome students from across Ohio, along with a dedicated team from Pennsylvania. The event offers a physically demanding environment that challenges young cadets and fosters personal growth. Through the experience, they learn to push beyond their perceived physical limits, work cohesively as a team, and demonstrate leadership and encouragement when it matters most,” said KCCC’s Colonel Salvucci.
He added, “It’s in this setting that we help shape today’s youth into tomorrow’s responsible citizens, ready to lead their country. I find it incredibly rewarding to provide this opportunity for growth–and even more inspiring to witness it unfold in real time.”

“On Track with HVAC” is a program generated by Brad Schmidt, HVAC instructor at KCCC, and the KCCC HVAC Advisory Committee. In order to earn “On Track with HVAC” status, students must complete all credentials that are provided in the HVAC program, pass a drug test, miss a maximum of eight days or less of school in their junior year, and be employed through a local company through KCCC’s Work-Based Learning program. Students who earn “On Track with HVAC” receive a tool bag full of hand tools and an electric meter to kick-start their career in the HVAC field. This opportunity is made possible by the HVAC Advisory Committee, which is made up of local industry partners who support KCCC’s HVAC program and industry.
KCCC & the HVAC program would like to thank the businesses that sponsor “On Track with HVAC”. Thank you to Lapp Heating & Cooling, IBEW 688, Universal Enterprise Inc., Coffing Electric, Advantage Air, and Mac Heating & Cooling.
