Precision Machining students have been hard at work in lab and diving into a variety of projects at the direction of Mr. Lafevre. Cameron McNamara worked on surface grinding a class project. Evan Williams worked on programming and running a part at the Haas CNC Mill. Landon Pfleiderer worked on being safety certified on a manual lathe. This week Ms. Tara (Early Childhood Education) completed all of the lesson plans in KCCC's Preschool for our unit on discovering the children’s author and illustrator Todd Parr. Concepts: We are all special in our own ways! There are many different emotions that we can feel! Some of the classroom activities included: feeling spots and babies in dramatic play, completing Todd Parr illustration patterns, emotion discovery mirrors, making colorful fish, and self-portraits in art!

Mr. Clippinger, KCCC's Building Trades instructor, provided OSHA 10 Training to Metal Fabrication & Welding, Building Trades, and Landscape Design & Management students recently. OSHA 10 Training's purpose is to promote workplace safety and health and to make workers more knowledgeable about workplace hazards and their rights. While Metal Fabrication & Welding students were getting OSHA 10 trained, Mr. Broseus, KCCC's Metal Fabrication & Welding instructor, taught Building Trades & Landscape Design & Management students how to weld. KCCC's Student Council and Pre-Profesional Mentorship hosted a sewing service project for Ryan's Case for Smiles. Students learned about the organization and the needs of patients and families at Nationwide Children's Hospital. Our students learned to use a sewing machine and serger to create pillowcases. They sewed, ironed, and serged 74 pillowcases to donate to children in the hospital. Thank you Ryan's Case for Smiles for the opportunity to learn and serve with you!

Ms. Paige (Early Childhood Education) did all of the lesson plans for this past week in KCCC's Preschool on our Space Unit! Some of the concepts that we covered were: “There are many faraway objects in space, like moons, stars, planets and asteroids.” “We live on the planet Earth! The projects that are on display are name constellations! They were done in the writing center to help the students with writing the letters of their names and putting them in the correct order! Other activities included: having our own space station, writing in moon dust, stamping space shapes, counting stars, and investigating the solar system!
