Sports Medicine & Exercise Science juniors took their clinic on the road to the Mount Vernon Fire Station recently. They spent 3 days (in order to capture each shift) doing evaluations and programming for all emergency personnel. Students performed an initial evaluation using the Fusionetics app to identify any movement deficiencies, then put together programming to help enhance any limitations that they had. Great opportunity to partner with our local first responders!

KCCC had a little extra excitement last week! Students in Automotive Technology discovered a black rat snake under the hood of a truck as they got ready to replace a filter. Mrs. Rine was summoned and saved the day! Mrs. Rine returned the snake to the wild at the end of the day.

Ms. Lilli spent the week teaching our KCCC Preschoolers about the Arctic! We were able to learn that polar bears are the largest bear in the world, and they live in the Arctic, and that the Arctic is made of ice. Some of the activities that we explored were creating our own polar bears, playing Don’t Break the Ice, building with arctic animals and ice blocks, writing in snow, and building an arctic habitat!

KCCC's Preschool talked about insects recently! We talked about insects having wings and six legs and the fact that a scientist who studies insects is called an entomologist! Some of the activities that Ms. Grace (senior in Early Childhood Education) prepared for us to explore were creating sponge and stamp butterflies, building insect homes, matching upper and lowercase ladybug letters, and counting butterflies!
