Students in Mrs. Allbaugh's class have been working on food calorimetry. A calorimeter is a piece of equipment designed to measure the energy released or absorbed during a chemical reaction or phase change. Food calorimetry allows us to determine the number of calories per gram of food. Students have burnt Cheetos, puff Cheetos, circus peanuts, and Doritos. Students will also bring in their own snack foods to test.

Sports Medicine & Exercise Science juniors took their clinic on the road to the Mount Vernon Fire Station recently. They spent 3 days (in order to capture each shift) doing evaluations and programming for all emergency personnel. Students performed an initial evaluation using the Fusionetics app to identify any movement deficiencies, then put together programming to help enhance any limitations that they had. Great opportunity to partner with our local first responders!

Ms. Lilli spent the week teaching our KCCC Preschoolers about the Arctic! We were able to learn that polar bears are the largest bear in the world, and they live in the Arctic, and that the Arctic is made of ice. Some of the activities that we explored were creating our own polar bears, playing Don’t Break the Ice, building with arctic animals and ice blocks, writing in snow, and building an arctic habitat!
